BIFMA testedSGS-tested fabric

A sculptural, composed task chair that is genuinely pretty from every angle. Light-grey stretch fabric and matching mesh with black and polished-aluminum accents, as at home in a nice home office as in the workplace.

As pretty as it is comfortable

Compos is the put-together one. Light-grey stretch fabric and matching mesh, black and polished-aluminum accents, and a tall, sculpted back that wraps the sides of your torso. It is finished nicely on the back side too, so it looks right from every angle a room will see.

The molded seat is raised at the sides with a small center pommel, which keeps you sitting centered and back in the chair, the position where the wrapping back and lumbar support you best. A tunable synchro-tilt with tension and lock knobs under the seat sets the recline to your weight and holds it where you like. 3D arms with sliding pads and a seat-depth slide dial in the rest.

  • Tall sculptural back that wraps your sides for upper-back and lumbar support
  • Molded seat with raised sides and a center pommel that keeps you centered
  • Synchro-tilt with tension and lock knobs, set once and it holds
  • Seat depth slides nearly 3 inches (16.1–18.9 in)

Before you ask

Questions,
answered.

How do I set the recline?
Two knobs under the seat. One sets the tension, how much push-back you feel, so you can match it to your weight. The other locks the tilt in four positions, from upright to a relaxed recline. Set it once and Compos stays exactly where you like it.
What is the back like?
It is the reason people fall for Compos. Rather than a flat panel, the back is sculpted to wrap around the sides of your torso, and it is tall, giving real upper-back support along with a height-adjustable lumbar. You feel cradled without feeling boxed in.
Why is the seat shaped the way it is?
The seat foam is molded, gently raised at the sides with a small center pommel, to keep you sitting centered and back in the chair. That is the position where the wrapping back and lumbar support you best.
Will Compos fit smaller and larger bodies?
Yes. The seat depth slides through nearly 3 inches (16.1–18.9 in). At its shallowest the front edge will not catch behind a smaller person's knees. At its deepest it gives a tall man full thigh support. The arms adjust for height and width, and the seat rises a little higher than Respond's, which taller users appreciate.
How durable is the fabric, and is it easy to clean?
Compos's seat fabric was independently tested by SGS to 100,000 abrasion cycles, which is heavy-duty, contract-grade territory. Everyday home fabrics typically rate around 15,000 to 30,000. It is also treated to resist staining and cleans up with water and mild soap.
What is the warranty and lead time?
Compos is in stock and typically ships in 3–5 business days, and it is returnable in saleable condition.
