A chair that moves in response to your body. Nothing to set, nothing to adjust. It just feels right the moment you sit, and it keeps the pressure off your legs, so you feel it far less at the end of a long day.

It just feels right when you sit down

Respond moves the way you move, with nothing to adjust to make it feel right. Because the back reclines more than the seat, the pressure that normally builds over a long day never gets the chance to.

The seat slides shorter or deeper to fit smaller frames, not just the average-to-tall men most chairs are built around. The arms adjust for height and width, with sliding pads that meet your forearms where they naturally rest. That level of adjustability usually shows up on chairs costing far more. It looks like another simple black mesh-back chair. That is where the similarities end.

Before you ask

Questions,
answered.

Do I need to adjust anything to make it comfortable?
No. Respond moves in response to your body on its own. The seat and back recline together in a natural ratio, so it feels right without setting a single lever. And because the back reclines more than the seat, the pressure that normally builds over a long day never gets the chance to.
Will Respond fit smaller and larger bodies?
Yes, and this is where Respond stands out. The seat slides shorter or deeper, so it fits smaller frames, not just the average-to-tall men most chairs are sized for. A height-adjustable lumbar puts support where your back wants it, and the arms adjust for height and width.
What can you adjust on Respond?
Recline lock, seat depth, arm height and width, and the lumbar support. Every control is marked with an icon and reachable while you are seated. The recline motion itself needs no adjustment. It simply responds to you.
What are the foot pedals for?
Respond has foot pedals built into the base, a detail we borrowed from our favorite high-end chairs. They give you a place to rest your feet, a real help if you are on the shorter side, and extra leverage to recline when you lean back.
How should I set up the arms?
Relax your shoulders and let your arms rest naturally at your sides. Then slide the armpads forward or back to meet your forearms where they are most relaxed, and set height and width so your shoulders stay down and loose.
How durable is the fabric, and is it easy to clean?
Abrasion resistance is the best predictor of how long upholstery lasts, and it is the spec most shoppers never see. Everyday home fabrics are typically rated around 15,000 to 30,000 cycles. 100,000 is heavy-duty, contract-grade territory. Respond's seat fabric was independently tested by SGS to 100,000 abrasion cycles. It is also treated to resist staining and cleans up with water and mild soap.
What is the warranty and lead time?
Respond is in stock and typically ships in 3–5 business days, and it is returnable in saleable condition.
